Every time I walk through the beauty aisles in my local drugstore, I am taunted by the huge display for the Olay Regenerist line and constantly read about how many simply swear by the formula. As a walking beauty guinea pig, I figured it was about time to put the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream to the test myself. We’ve all heard the claims on how it beats out 10 prestige creams priced up to $440 from the Good Housekeeping Institute and I documented the last two weeks of my journey testing this cream. Did it prove itself? Let’s get to my Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream review…
According to a study performed by Olay with 155,000 women, they were able to prove that 80% of skin’s anti-aging is in control of the individual – only 20% is related to your genes. This is major news. With so much in our control and so many products on the market, it’s important to get solid statistics on high-performing products at fair prices.
The Good Housekeeping Institute (GHI) is incredible at highlighting the key findings of the people who tested Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream which is priced at a cool $26.99 (and FYI, as someone with her MBA, it’s always a huge pet peeve of mine when brands conduct tests with less than 30 people because then it’s not an accurate/fair pool to pull from. You always need at least 30). Since I have more oily skin, I really loved the lightweight texture – GHI noted that in blind comparisons, consumers preferred Olay 80% of the time over more expensive brands, saying that it felt ‘rich’ without feeling heavy. Skin texture is also hugely important to me since I struggle with oily skin and breakouts. Because of the niacinamide and hyaluronic acid in the product, Olay improved skin’s texture by 10% in four weeks.
Olay has recently re-engineered the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream to include CAROB SEED EXTRACT. Being the skin care nut I am, I researched this ingredient and learned that it’s an antioxidant that protects the skin. I love that it was listed high up on the ingredient list (fourth), which means Olay Micro-Sculpting Cream has a high concentration of this ingredient. Other noteworthy skin care ingredients include niacinamide, an amino-peptide complex, hyaluronic acid, vitamin B5 and vitamin E. It also comes with fragrance or fragrance-free.
So far, I’ve been using the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream for a little over two weeks. The first week, I used it morning and night but found that on my oily skin in the summertime, it was better suited for only evenings when my skin does the most repairing.
*Side note, I let my dry-skinned husband partake in this little test and he used it morning and night. He’s swearing this is just as good (if not better) than some of the high-end moisturizers (several over $100) I’ve had him trial for me. Score!
Anyways, so now I’ve just been using it at night as my last step in my skincare routine to seal in hydration and I think this before/after photo speaks for itself. I was amazed how much brighter my skin looks. Look at my eye area… my dark circles and inner corners look noticeably brighter and I just feel like my skin definitely looks less red.
Olay claims that after two weeks of use, skin is noticeably firmer and skin elasticity is improved. Personally, since I’m in my early 30s, I am finding that the hydration, brightness, and redness-reducing qualities are more apparent for me, but I’m excited to see the results of continued use.
TIP: USE THIS AS A WEEKLY HYDRATING MASK! Slather a thick layer of this on before bed, leave it on for 15-30 minutes and tissue off the excess. You’ll feel like a glowing goddess in the morning.
I think the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream is an anti-aging product that works and I completely understand why so many have sworn by this formula over the years. The results from the Good Housekeeping Institute are solid evidence that it’s a product that does what it says it does by providing intense (yet lightweight) hydration plus so much more. It’s perfect for those of us starting an anti-aging skin care regimen without breaking the bank.
