Most of us are doing our part and staying home 99% of the time lately, but even if you’re considered ‘essential’ personnel and working, we all need a little extra self care lately. I definitely am not going all out with my makeup every day, but I certainly am taking advantage of the extra time to pamper myself with my skincare routine… and that includes masking a lot more often. Recently, I picked up two new masks from the super clean, organic and vegan Primally Pure brand (my favorite clean deodorant at the moment!). Let’s get into who these two masks would be perfect for in my Primally Pure Soothing and Clarifying Mask review…
I shared the intro on Primally Pure as a brand in my favorite clean deodorant post here, but If you want the overall gist… it’s a female founded and owned natural/clean, organic and vegan skincare and body care line… created and produced here in the United States (based in California).
Their charcoal deodorant has been a favorite of mine since September 2019 and I highly encourage those that want a clean/safer deodorant to try that one if they’ve been let down in the past.
But recently, they launched three new active (as in, the ingredients aren’t just dirt and oil) face masks that pack a punch for plumping, soothing and clarifying.
They’re using ingredients like Lactobacillus Ferment, Coconut Lactobacillus, White Willow Bark Powder, Witch Hazel, Colloidal Silver, and Turmeric Powder in their clarifying mask; and Evening Primrose Oil, Spirulina, Chlorella, Gotu Kola and Colloidal Oatmeal in the soothing mask.
I picked up the soothing and clarifying for my skin type, which has been more normal/oily, still easily acne prone and sensitive.
The Soothing Mask is the mask you want when your face just looks mad at you. Do you know what I mean? Like maybe you switched up your skincare routine a little too abruptly… didn’t drink enough water the day before… are super stressed lately… ate too many carbs or salt… are a week from your period and just feeling gross. Yes. This is your new BFF.
The Soothing Mask is my undeniable favorite (but the clarifying mask has its place and time, too… more in a minute). My skin is so sensitive that the littlest thing I do will throw things out of whack.
Whenever I feel like my face just needs a calming hug, I apply this mask.
You’ll notice in the ingredients, they have honey (a natural humectant) to soothe and hydrate, green Spirulina as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, chlorella to support healthy skin cell function, and colloidal oatmeal which many of us know reduces skin irritation and redness.
I like to leave this mask on as long as I can. Which is why now is the perfect time to try it out…. all we have is time.
I’ll apply with an old, flat foundation brush on damp skin. I find when I apply to dry skin, it’s a bit harder to smooth out and I use a lot more than necessary.
Go watch a show on Netflix, then rinse well. Apply your regular serum or moisturizer and continue on with your day or night.
As far as the smell and texture go, the Soothing Mask is thick like raw honey, deep green and has a calming herbal scent.
The Clarifying Mask is perfect when your skin needs to recover from a breakout or congested skin, specifically.
The White Willow Bark Powder is a star ingredient… as its part of the plant salicylic acid is derived from. Also helpful, the colloidal silver that has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties that promotes skin healing.
I apply the clarifying mask exactly the same as I apply the soothing mask… old, flat foundation brush on damp skin.
The longer you can leave it on, the better in my opinion. These masks never seen to overly-irritate.
As far as smell and texture of the Clarifying Mask, the formula is also thick like honey, but bright yellow (like Turmeric) and has a herbal Turmeric scent.
I know right now, many of us need a healthy distraction and there’s no better time than now to take care of your body – with nutrition, exercise and skincare.
