It always seems that when one product runs out, they all follow suit. I seriously feel like I’ve had to repurchase everything in my arsenal lately – from body wash to mascara, eyeliner to a foundation. Let’s get to the details on my mini makeup haul because there are some goodies!
(Clockwise L to R: Maybelline Master Conceal // Urban Decay “Bordello” // Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof // MAC “Woodwinked” // MAC Fluidline “Blacktrack”)
Maybelline Master Conceal in Light Medium // Ok, so I really didn’t *need* this one, but the hype is real. This is one of Maybelline’s newest concealers and I’ve always been a fan of Maybelline cosmetics – particularly their concealers and mascaras. Here’s a good explanation of this product:
*DO NOT TRY THIS: If you have extremely dry eyes/eyelids
This concealer is great under my eyes, as well as, on any discoloration.
(L to R: Bordello, Woodwinked; no flash)
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in “Bordello” // I had been on the hunt for a light/medium warm-toned purple eyeshadow for months – the struggle is real. I thought it would be an easy everyday eye look to bring out my light brown/hazel eyes. This shade is perfect! It’s super subtle, so it’s not as though I’m wearing *BAM* color on my eyelids, but pops enough to bring out the prettiest bronze hues of my eyes with just a bit of mascara. If you have light brown or hazel eyes (or dark brown eyes with medium skin tone), I suggest checking this shade out next time you’re near an Ulta or Sephora. Super unique, surprisingly!
MAC Eyeshadow in “Woodwinked” // Another ‘every day’ wash of color that is highly hyped. It’s a medium, bronze warm brown. It’s less shimmery than MAC’s “Bronze” and less golden than MAC’s “Amber Lights.” It’s a very interesting texture and I’m still figuring it out, but one thing this shade is known for is its multi-dimension. Woodwinked is the type of shade that can look like you’re wearing 3-4 different eyeshadows at once and took a lot longer on your eye makeup than you really did.
Maybelline Lash Sensational in Waterproof // I recently read an article by an engineer for L’Oreal who made a very good point. He said that many times, high-end brands are actually copying the drug store mascaras. So individuals who are lusting after the Dior, Chanel and Armani mascaras are just buying expensive copycats of what does well at the drugstores. Touche. If you like rubber-bristle brushes, you’ll love this. The formula is wet, very black, dries quickly but holds a curl and packs a hefty impact with one application. It never flakes on me (no Maybelline mascaras ever have) and removes with waterproof eye makeup remover. I also like Maybelline’s The Rocket, but that stuff is bulletproof and felt like it was ripping my lashes out when I tried to remove it at night – this is a happy medium.
MAC Fluidline Eyeliner in “Blacktrack” // This is a repurchase. My first one lasted me three years and only dried out recently. This stuff gives you that perfect MAC makeup artist/salesperson eyeliner that lasts all day. It’s also softer-looking and a bit easier to use than a liquid liner. At this price point, I have no reason to try any other gel eyeliners.
Have you received any new goodies for Valentine’s Day and are loving them? Please let me know in the comments!
