About a week ago, I was fortunate enough to be invited to meet with the goddess herself, Charlotte Tilbury, along with an intimate group of wonderful press and fellow bloggers in Houston. This event was akin to meeting Santa for the first time and waking up on Christmas morning to makeup, sparkles and happiness everywhere.
We had the opportunity to play with Charlotte’s entire collection, as well as, some items yet to be launched in the United States. Naturally, I left with quite a bit of items to play with and test over the past few days (more to come on that). For now, I wanted to share with you some of the tidbits I learned from Charlotte about her products, brand, and passion for beauty. More meeting Charlotte Tilbury after the jump!
“I wanted to change women’s lives.”
Charlotte Tilbury on why she started a makeup line
From the beginning:
“[…] Brand vision was to disrupt the industry. I didn’t just want to create another red lipstick… it had to be different.”
“Product is everything. Product is king. It has to be revolutionary.”
“[There were/are] lots of barriers for women regarding makeup. They [didn’t/don’t] know what to choose and they [were/are] scared,” Charlotte on her team’s research in creating her ‘makeup made easy’ format.
Inception:
“[…] Magic Cream… it gives the skin an immediate turnaround,” Charlotte on her first big product hit, Magic Cream.
“The Goddess Skin Clay Mask gives you poreless, flawless baby skin. The biggest reason women start seeing fine lines is because they’re dehydrated.” -Charlotte on her newest release, the Goddess Skin Clay Mask.
“Everything [you put on your face] should treat and transform,” Charlotte’s thoughts on skincare combined with makeup. Several (if not all) of Charlotte’s line has skincare ingredients infused to nourish your skin, as well.

The Buzz:
“I want women to look like they have a makeup artist at home,” Charlotte’s thoughts on curating a line where all the ‘looks’ are pre-selected to blend and match flawlessly.
“The one part of your body that shows your soul is your eyes. We can hypnotize with our eyes,” Charlotte on why she loves eye makeup.
“Minute makeup… you don’t need anything but a finger!” -Charlotte on several of her products that make application super quick and easy (e.g.: Color Chameleons, Beach Sticks).
“I wanted to bring glamour back to makeup,” on being inspired by art deco and the 1920s elegance of most of her packaging.
“Makeup empowers you. If you look good, you feel good.” -Charlotte on her passion for beauty

Charlotte explaining the superb formulation of her lipsticks
The most important question I asked her:
Steffanie: What is the most common beauty mistake women make?
Charlotte: Choosing the wrong foundation shade, and also, most women don’t do enough with the eyes. The eyes can be mesmerizing!
