There are a handful of items that I classify as holy grail beauty products, or items I continuously replenish upon completion. I think it says something when you buy a replacement of an item twice, three times or more. The following products do exactly as I need them to do – time and time again. Although I try others, I always come back to these 11 stand outs…
Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation
My favorite every day, medium-coverage natural finish foundation.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
My go-to long-wear, special occasion or bad-skin day, full-coverage matte finish foundation.
TooFaced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer – Medium/Deep
The best not-too-warm/not-too-ashy matte bronzer that can pull off a contour but also warms up the complexion in the prettiest way. Plus, it smells of cocoa powder.
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
As many will have already read in my recent rant here, this is the blackest, longest-wearing easy-to-use liquid eyeliner I’ve ever tried.
Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Base – Mineral Powder
A great multi-tasking powder. I use this on my no-makeup-makeup days (think: lazy Sundays), as well as, a setting powder for extra coverage overtop foundation when I want a super flawless look. Great for drier skin.
Laura Mercier Mineral Foundation
The most natural mineral foundation out there. When I could no longer tolerate Bare Minerals ashy/drying effects, I graduated to this formula and love how luminous it makes my skin while keeping it effortless. Better for normal/combo/oilier skin.
MAC Peach Blossom Cremesheen Lipstick
My favorite peachy-pink-nude lipstick. My wedding day lipstick. For sentimental reasons alone, I’ll always keep a tube of this.
Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Perfume
Another wedding day memento, Flowerbomb is what I call my signature scent. It’s a heavy, musky floral that lasts on my skin all.day. and then some. Mr. Brighter Darling also wears Spicebomb (and did so on our wedding day, too).
Lancome BiFacil Makeup Remover
Ugh, pricey. But so worth it if you’re a regular waterproof mascara user. Anything else just irritates my eyes and/or doesn’t remove every trace of mascara. I’ve repurchased this product the most and finally upgraded to the big $39 bottle.
MAC Powerpoint Eyeliner – Engraved
My favorite black pencil liner. Great for waterline or upper lash line. Isn’t the blackest-black out there, but doesn’t smudge on me nearly as bad as many others out there. I’ve been loyal to this one since 2008.
If you have wiry brows that have a mind of their own, you need this. This is the super-hold hairspray for brows. It’s no joke. Nothing else like it… not even super hold hairspray itself, lol.
Now, tell me what your holy grail beauty products are – or products you can’t live without? I’d love to know down in the comments (you know, a beauty lover can never have enough product recommendations).
