Best-of-the-Week: YouTube Makeup Videos

In case you’re new to my blog since last week, I’m starting a new series this year on Brighter, Darling:  best-of the week, YouTube makeup videos.

It’ll be published every Friday, just in time to let you zone out from work/class/life before the weekend officially starts. Best-of the week will include a round-up of my top three favorite YouTube makeup videos I’ve watched – sharing the creme de la creme with you! Continue reading to watch this week’s quick hair tutorial on how to master the messy bun, a super glam makeup tutorial using neutral shades from the brand new Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette and a demo using an interesting $5 drugstore product that may just be the best primer out there. Click here to see last week’s picks.

A round up of my top three favorite youtube makeup videos for the week from Kathleen Lights, The Small Things Blog and Steph's Beauty 05 on YouTube.

I love this Raleigh, NC-based (mostly) hair and makeup blogger who has the BEST hair tutorials I’ve found! Kate, The Small Things Blog, is a mom of two and if you don’t already follow her blog, you need to do it. My favorite hair blogger ever. I love the little tips in this messy bun tutorial – especially about actually making your hair messy before you throw it up. I never really thought of that and I totally have had the straight-girl-hair that never looked quite right in a messy bun until watching this tutorial.

Stephanie is a new-to-me YouTuber I discovered and I think she has great skills. She also doesn’t overly edit her Instagram photos, which is refreshing! I really love her in-depth makeup tutorials and this neutral yet dramatic look features the new Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette, but I think if you have a few neutral brown shades, you can recreate it at home.

To be completely honest, I have mixed feelings about Kathleen from KathleenLights, but this men’s shave balm has been sweeping the YouTube community as a top makeup face primer – beating out several $30+ brands. I love that Kathleen did a comparison on both sides of her face to show the wear over the course of a day. Is this something you’d give a shot? Pick it up on Amazon for $6.99 here.

Do you have any favorite YouTube makeup videos of the week? Share them below in the comments and let me know what you thought of these three.
