If there’s one thing I’m consistent with, it’s my signature lip color. I always gravitate towards soft, peachy pink nudes that give me just a hint of color but still are neutral enough to go with absolutely any makeup look. Since we’re already in August (!!!), I figured it would only be apropos to share which shades/formulas have been my favorite summer lip colors.
Typically, I do prefer more of a gloss or a bit of shimmer to my summer lip colors, but these range the gambit from glossy to matte – something for all. Some are better for the workplace, some are better for a post-beach happy hour. Or, if you’re like me, you wear them whenever the heck you want. After looking at my collection, I also was happy to see options in all different price points from drugstore to the highest of high-end.
This was a repurchase from my college days. I was obsessed with NARS Orgasm gloss and recall literally applying it at my old go-to bars while waiting for my vodka cranberry. Ah, memories! It’s better than I remember. I will never be without this perfect gloss.
Another repurchase from long ago, Shy Girl was the very first MAC lipstick I purchased around 2009. It’s a very light peachy beige but I love the way it looks paired with NARS Orgasm gloss, or with any nude lip liner.
I’ve raved about NYX Lip Lingeries before, and Bedtime Flirt was the first of the formula I purchased back in April. It’s just SO pretty. I love how long it lasts without completely drying out my lips and it’s my perfect liquid lipstick MLBB color.
I purchased Beaux lipglass a couple of months ago and wore it in this tutorial. It’s a pretty brown/nude with bronze shimmer. Wears beautifully on its own, but I like wearing it on top of Tom Ford’s Spanish Pink lipstick. Speaking of…
A mighty splurge, I have been trying to get a lot of use out of this investment piece. Spanish Pink is a beautiful summer shade but it doesn’t last very long on my lips, so that’s why I prefer topping it with a gloss (see above, Beaux).
This is a deluxe sample I got from Sephora and I really enjoy it! Love that they sent Peacemaker – a very wearable peachy nude shade. Usually, I feel like the deluxe samples are bright pinks or reds that I never use. This formula is super smooth, hydrating and easy to wear. Perfect to throw in your purse for touch ups on the go.
The most wearable/creamy matte lipstick I’ve ever tried, the NYX Soft Mattes take a little bit to completely dry down but when they do, they last hours without any touch ups and don’t get cracky when they wear off. Stockholm has been my absolute favorite all summer long – plus the price is awesome at under $6!
Tell me what have been your favorite summer lip colors this year. Do you stick to peachy nudes like me or love playing with more bold colors?
