Best-of-the-Week: YouTube Makeup Videos

In this week’s best YouTube makeup videos, the Huda Beauty brand just recently launched new lip contour products (yes… now we’re contouring our lips, people). Really, they’re more like lip liners with excellent longevity, but regardless… we’re taking a look at those PLUS, it’s prom/wedding season and I came across an age-appropriate yet gorgeous makeup tutorial for high schoolers, wedding guests and/or brides alike!

Have you filled out my quick 5-question READER’S CHOICE Beauty Poll? It’s totally anonymous/optional, but I’m compiling some beauty tips/tricks, reader favorite products and reader’s-most-lusted after list and will be sharing the results later this month/early June. BONUS if you’re a blogger/vlogger: leave your link and get the chance to have your tip/favorite product featured on my post! Thanks!

If you don’t know who Huda Kattan is (founder of Huda Beauty), just go look at how many Instagram followers she has and you’ll know her stuff is a big deal. Not only is she stunning, but she really knows pretty makeup and with the success of her false lash line, she’s expanded to these lip products. I’m kinda intrigued!

Steph’s Beauty05 got the Huda Beauty Lip Contours and I thought it was helpful/informative to see them/hear a review on and from an unaffiliated person, outside of Huda’s video. Any of these catch your eye? I kinda like Trendsetter, Trophy Wife and Famous the most (and I also giggle at the names…).

I don’t know about you, but at least 75% of the prom makeup tutorials I see on YouTube these days are way too much makeup for any 15-17 year old girl I know. As much as I’ve always loved makeup (and come from a long line of women who feel the same), my mom would not be letting me out of the house for prom with full drag “Instaglam” makeup – hell, she didn’t even let me get a black dress for any of the three proms I attended because I “have plenty of time to wear black dresses when I get older…” (direct quote from my mother). Granted, I did wear rhinestones on my eyes and loved makeup just as much then as I do now, but it’s just… I dunno, too much sometimes.

This look was so well done in my eyes because although she used several products, it’s so soft and well blended with just enough emphasis that it doesn’t age the model. There IS a point in which makeup ages you if you don’t do it right – no matter if you’re 15 or 65. I really appreciated Jamie Paige’s prom look and hope you share this video with anyone you know attending a formal event coming up soon – BONUS – it’s mostly drugstore products!
