Hello readers! I’m SO happy it’s Friday – this week has felt like an eternity. I started it by going to the orthodontist for my braces appointment and let’s just say we’re still in development here. From there, last night I co-hosted Carrie Ann’s A Night with the Bloggers fall fashion + beauty event (recap coming soon) I have been talking about on Instagram and Snapchat for the last few weeks. I got home late last night and have been on the sinus headache struggle bus all day today. But it was a lot of fun and I’m so happy I got to see many familiar faces, meet new faces, and share my favorite fall looks!
But let’s get to YouTube because that’s why you’re reading this. You want to zone out from doing work, so I’m here to provide two fabulous makeup tutorials (one in homage of SELENA and another very trendy) and share a best/worst drugstore powders video.
There’s been a ton of Selena tutorials out there – particularly because of the recent sold-out #MACSelena collab – but I don’t think any of them held a candle to Desi Perkin’s version shown here. Of course, Desi is a huge fan of Jennifer Lopez and could totally pass for her sister, so it’s no surprise she was able to pull off this incredible Selena transformation. So beautiful!
Did you get a chance to check out the collection in person? Pick any of it up – let me know in the comments!
I’m going to just tell you all right now that the cut crease is going to be making a come back in a big way soon, so may as well get your tools out and start practicing! For those who are very into the InstaGLAM makeup found on, well, Instagram, you won’t think this is a new trend. But for the mass majority, this is a fairly dramatic look but one that looks really great on those with hooded to semi-hooded lids because it can ‘fake’ larger lid space. I actually tried it myself for the first time at last night’s A Night with the Bloggers event and it made my eyes look huge!
Zabrena is a YouTuber I have been watching a lot of lately. She’s super authentic and gives some quality advice, so I highly recommend checking her out. I really enjoyed the effort she put into this video where she compares a ton of drugstore powders and checks in throughout the day to show us how it’s looking (WARNING: some are horrible! Thanks for the head’s up, Zabrena). Have you tried any of these and were your experiences different or the same from Zabrena’s? Let me know.
My best friend is in town from New Jersey this weekend, so we’re going to be doing some fun activities together and I’m looking forward to it. I hope you have a great weekend!
