2014 was quite a year for me! I got married, finished my Master of Business Administration, moved across the country and started a new job. Identifying my favorite beauty products of the year was easy, simply because I have restraint problems swiping my credit card at every store that carries cosmetics did my own makeup for my wedding and made sure I used the best products possible for my desired look. Because of that experience, my 2014 beauty favorites truly include some high performers I’m excited to share!
FACE
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation // This was my wedding foundation. I honestly tried dozens of samples during my two-year engagement to find the longest-wearing, best coverage, doesn’t-break-me-out foundation. If you need long-wearing and max coverage, this is your product. Photographs flawlessly, too.
MAC Gingerly Blush // This was my wedding blush. I never had much luck finding a MAC blush shade that wowed me. During a trip home to New Jersey, a MAC artist used this blush on me and it’s the perfect matte peachy-brown to complement my skin tone. There’s nothing else like it on the market.
EYES
Kat Von D Liquid Liner in Trooper // This was one of the eyeliners I used on my wedding (I used a gel liner first, Trooper on top to sharpen my wing and also conceal my false lash band, and a pencil in my lower waterline). It’s the blackest matte black and lasts through 12+ hours of wedding festivities and pictures. That says enough.
Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade // Did not use this on my wedding (used the Brow Wiz instead), but started using this shortly thereafter. I always wanted to know how to achieve that perfectly defined brow look without using a ton of products. Dip brow is great because it defines AND sets wiry brows in place. This pot will last centuries – you need the tiniest amount.
LIPS
MAC Prolongwear Lipglass // Why do these not get the most buzz ever? I guess because they are the stickiest gloss I’ve ever tried. If you think regular MAC lipglasses are sticky, these can probably hold the Freedom Tower together. But they LAST. Wore shade Ready Or Not on my wedding over a peachy/pink/nude lipstick. It’s also great on its own or with a lip pencil.
HAIR/NAILS
Gelous Nail Gel Top Coat // Many blogs have talked about the DIY gel mani using this product and they’re right. This stuff works and gives me a solid week+ of wear time with no chips in sight. And the shine to match. Just follow the system.
It’s A 10 Miracle Leave In Treatment // I recently stopped using this product to try to substitute a cheaper alternative. My normally awesome hair started feeling heavy, dry and just generally lackluster. Picked up a new bottle of this, and my hair is back to its bouncy, shiny self. When you’re good, you’re just good.
There you have it. My 2014 beauty favorites. I’m really looking forward to what 2015 has in store – already eyeing a few potential favorites in my collection 🙂
