Valentine’s Day Makeup | GNO Dark + Vampy

It’s soon approaching – the dreaded Valentine’s Day. To be honest, my favorite Valentine’s Day was back in 2009 with one of my best girlfriends in Philly. We got all dolled up, treated ourselves to a fahncyyy romantical dinner and then went to a posh bar/lounge and got drunk off of flirtinis all night.

That’s why I wanted to share a Valentine’s Day Makeup look for your next Girl’s Night Out (GNO, for short). It’s dark, vampy and will make you feel super fabulous all night! Keep reading to see what products I used to get this look. Thanks to my sister for being my volunteer!

Valentine's Day Makeup Look
Face

When you have some dark eyes and dark lips, you better be rocking some flawless skin! This look calls for the fullest coverage and longest lasting foundation I own – because when it’s a GNO, you better be planning to be out.all.night. Use Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Makeup. After using this, you probably won’t even need any concealer – it’s that legit. If you’re oily, set it in place with a powder. I used this one. If you’re dry, just set underneath your eyes to avoid any creasing.

Again, because the eyes and lips are dramatic, I used a more muted, natural rose-beige blush (Exposed, by Tarte). I used a warm, golden bronzer to give some life back to the face.

Eyes

Charlotte Tilbury FTW again! I recently did a very soft look using the Dolce Vita palette on my mom (here), and now I’m using it in a much more dramatic way on my sister. Same shades, different application. I used the lightest shade below the brow bone and at the inner tear duct. I used the chocolate-brown shade all over the lid. Use the garnet shade through the crease and pack on the glittery gold sparkly shade all over to really take this look up a notch. The sparkles are life.

Line your lash line very subtly with a gel eyeliner and angled brush. Smoke out the lower lash line with a mix of the chocolate and garnet shades.

Fill in any sparse areas very lightly with this brow pencil (universally flattering shade).

Load on a ton of mascara. We used a mix of Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir (full review here) for volume and L’Oreal Miss Manga ROCK Waterproof for definition and length.

Lips

In this photo, we used MAC’s Cyber lipstick ($17) – a blackberry shade. But I wanted to share a $5 dupe with you – ColourPop’s Creature. It’s literally identical and a little more matte without being drying. I think it may even last longer on the lips than Cyber (I watched how Cyber wore off on my sister the night we did this look).

Hair

We just curled her hair with a 1″ curling iron, backcombed the roots a little using drybar’s Triple Sec for added volume and hold.
