It’s been a bit since I shared a YouTube video, but I’m happy to be back at it and sharing this makeup tutorial featuring (mostly) affordable makeup! Mainly, I’ll be testing this $12 Shop Hush Athena Eyeshadow Palette dupe for a high-end palette that costs $60+. If you’re interested in seeing how I got this look and if the $12 palette is worth it, then continue reading…
Shop Hush is a website (but mainly an app for your phone) that sells affordable makeup – and many duped palettes – for a fraction of the cost.
The creators behind Shop Hush believe that beauty shouldn’t cost a fortune. Although many may give side eye at palettes that ‘copycat’ the high-end designer’s, the simple fact is most women aren’t able to drop $40-60 on an eyeshadow palette every month.
Shop Hush gives you the flexibility to try out some of the shades to see if it’s even a palette (or lipstick, or face highlighter) you’d like without breaking the bank. After all, it’s a lot less painful to hate a $12 eyeshadow palette than a $65 one.
Many of the best deals on Shop Hush are sold through their phone app – so although you may see the items on their website, you do have to download the app to order on your phone.
DISCLAIMER: Shop Hush reached out to me a few months ago asking if I’d like to try some of their top sellers and share my favorites with my readers, so any Shop Hush products you see in today’s video have been sent to me complimentary for testing purposes. I am not being paid and I do not have an affiliate link for these items if you so choose to purchase them on your own. Just sharing my honest opinions!
As you may have picked up from the tutorial, I definitely like this Athena palette. It has been my favorite palette from the bunch I was sent and I certainly think this is a great value and good quality for the $12 price tag.
UPDATE 7/5/18: Shop Hush Products Are Rarely Permanent + This Athena Palette Is No Longer Available. If You Like Items On Their Site, Best To Order Quickly.
The packaging is very good quality WITH a huge mirror and has a sturdy feel to it. It reminds me a lot of the high-end dupe version (if you can guess).
The variety of shades is unparalleled to what you’d find from typical drugstore brands and although this was not the finest quality eyeshadow I’ve ever tried… I believe it certainly surpasses what you’d expect from a $12 product.
As for the highlighter palette I used, I am a bit disappointed. The powders are definitely a bit chalky and lack the shimmer needed to really pop as a highlighter – particularly against medium to deeper skin tones.
I’d like to see more refined shimmer and texture and then the highlighter palette would be perfection – especially for unique shades like those featured in the Mermaid and Unicorn Glow face palettes Shop Hush sells.
At the time of publishing this post, Shop Hush sells the Athena palette for $12 on their app exclusively.
