Summer Style Wish List 2017 | What I ordered/bought

*Affiliate links used. Full disclaimer details here.
Summer clothing and I have a love/hate relationship; especially as I’ve gotten older and I’m no longer a toothpick. However, I think wearing a well-fitted pair of shorts or a flattering swimsuit can make even the most insecure feel incredible. It just takes time and perseverance to find those perfect items! These eight summer pieces have been purchased with great thought (and possibly have already been tried on and approved). If you’re looking for a couple new items, let me share what I picked up in this summer style wish list and it could be JUST what you’re looking for…

Summer Style Wish List 2017

I shopped all of these either at Nordstrom.com (because they have a lot of items in more affordable prices if you search online versus just what you find in stores), Macy’s (because they had a Friends & Family sale recently), and a site called SheIn.com (which is all fast-fashion, super cheap; akin to Forever 21, Asos, etc). Some of these items I’m still waiting to arrive in the mail, so if I have already tried them on, I’ll make a note.

1 | Twist Front Halter Swimsuit (tried on/took home)

I grabbed this suit off the rack a bit hesitantly because I wasn’t sure if that twist was going to bring attention to areas I did not want to bring attention to. But this is a HUGE winner. This is one of the only one pieces I’ve ever tried that doesn’t feel like it’s made for the torso of a six-year-old girl. I have a short torso as it is, and many one pieces still feel so short on me! The material feels nice quality (not too thick that you’ll be sweating; not too thin that you’ll rip right down the middle, lol), the stretch is very forgiving and the overall cut is extremely flattering on my smaller bust/bigger bootie.

2 | Slouchy Cut-off Denim Shorts

I have two pairs of denim shorts that I love (both are from Express), but my favorite are a slouchy pair of cut offs. They’re about dead. I’ve owned them for at least six years, so it was time to replenish. I thought the price on these was great after checking Express, so I hope these fit just as well if not better (the ratings are a solid 4.6/5)!

3 | Black One Piece Swimsuit (tried on/awaiting arrival)

Ok, so I tried this on at Macy’s AFTER I already placed my Nordstrom order, so I know this is going to fit great! I swear Becca does NO wrong in making swimwear for women. The cuts of their suits all fit me really great – both two pieces and one pieces. This is my second suit by Becca. I highly recommend this style or this style (bought last year) if you’re smaller busted and/or have a bigger butt like me.

4 | Tribal Fringe Kimono

I love short Kimonos like this instead of cardigans or my go-to leather jackets for summer. They’re easy to wear day-to-night and this one gives a bit of sass to an otherwise basic outfit. Throw this one with shorts and a tank, jeans and a tee or even just over a swimsuit. Trendy without trying too hard.

5 | Open Shoulder Tie Blouse

I’m a sucker for these loose-fitting silky tops because they make you look like you’ve attempted to wear something ‘fancy’ without really giving a crap (my usual mentality). The tie front and cold shoulder make it on trend. I think mustard is a flattering color on my olive skin tone, but this top also comes in black and white.

6 | Floral Romper

Rompers are another pain in the ass piece of clothing. 90% of the time, I hate the way they make me look and they’re just obnoxious – hello camel toe and don’t even get me started on going to pee. Then there’s that small 10% of them that actually look great. I’m hoping this is one of those, particularly because I love a good V-neckline and loose sleeves.

7 | Distressed White Denim (tried on/took home)

I know white jeans scare many… but not all are created equal. The horrible ones are made of thin material and have poorly placed back pockets. This lovely combination allows all of our flaws to show through like sausage casing and poorly placed back pockets can make even the tightest of asses look like a flat pancake. These, my friends, are none of those things. I LOVE Articles of Society denim. I wore them in this post in olive-green and happy to have these in my wardrobe.

8 | White Lace Cami

Another ‘replacement’ item, it’s important to have a few basic layering camisoles/tanks and this one just seemed so pretty with the lace detail. I want to pair this tank with those new denim cut offs and the kimono soon. Also comes in black.
