I take these two yearly Sephora sales – November and April – very seriously now that I’m blowing tons of cash on diapers and baby clothes! So when Sephora released the dates for their annual spring sale in late April/early May, I was instantly curating my cart for items I’ve been dying to try, and things I just really needed to restock but it kills me to pay full price. So, without further adieu, let’s just get into my Sephora sale recommendations spring 2019 edition (and my wish list!)…
Naturally, I’ve already filmed a YouTube video regarding a lot of the items I’m going to mention here, so if you’re someone who loves watching videos while washing baby bottles or prepping dinner (like me), I’ll drop this video below, but if not and you’re scrolling through just to see what I’m linking, then go for it, girl… scroll away…
So this year’s spring sale started April 26 and will run through May 6.
Rouge gets access exclusively for the first six days of the sale and will get unlimited use of 20% off their purchases in stores or online.
Starting May 2-May 6, VIB and Beauty Insiders will be able to also shop the sale (as well as, Rouge still) in stores and online. VIBs will get 15% off and BIs will get 10% off.
Below are the products I mention in the video and I go into more detail there about why I swear by them. But since the sale has already kicked off, I had a couple of items I picked up on a whim I’ll mention in this post towards the end.
Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter (review here, I use shade 4)
Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder, Luminous Light
Sephora Pro 98 Brush (highlight)
Sephora Pro 57 Brush (conceal)
NARS Liquid Blush, Orgasm (light/medium skin) or Torrid (medium/tan/deep skin)
Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick KISSING (Bitch Perfect, Nude Kate)
Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick MATTE REVOLUTION (Pillow Talk)
Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick HOT LIPS (Kim K W)
Bb Go Big Thickening Treatment
REN Keep Young and Beautiful Serum
IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara
Benefit Gimme Brow Gel (I use shades 1 or 2)
Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil (I use shade 2)
Marc Jacobs Highliners (I recommend Ro(Cocoa) or Blacquer)
Pat McGrath Mothership Sublime Bronze Palette
When I shopped the sale, I really needed something to help with my insane dark circles. I’ve always struggled with them and used to love the Bobbi Brown Corrector (Light Peach).
However, I know it creases really badly unless I set it with a powder. The problem is, I’m not 21 anymore and when you set a very creamy/sticky concealer like the Bobbi Brown corrector, things start to look very heavy under the eye.
Although I love the look of brightness that the corrector provided, I had to return it after two days because I just looked 15 years older. If you’re 30 and younger, this may work great for you as it did for me!
So… for now, I guess I just hope that regular concealer does a good job otherwise there’s apparently no hope for me.
Also, I realized after I shopped in person that my Laura Mercier Translucent loose powder was running dangerously low… like, barely any powder is coming out of the tub when I used it this past weekend. This isn’t a powder I’ve been using often because it’s bulky and my everyday makeup is pretty quick/minimal… but I still like to have this for special occasions.
Anyway, speaking to the above issue of looking tired and old (#momproblems), I decided to splurge during the sale and bought the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder. I’m trying it for the first time today and I’m OBSESSED! Not surprised though, because I’m having a major love affair with Hourglass the last year or so. I want ALL THE HOURGLASS.
Lastly, I was looking at YouTube videos of my skin right after I gave birth and realized it was a lot more clear. I don’t know how that was possible considering I was getting about 3.5 minutes of sleep and recovering from a traumatic C-Section, so the only thing I was doing differently was using a deluxe sample of the Kate Somerville Exfolikate Foaming Cleanser.
I’m NEVER one to recommend expensive cleansers because you wash them down the drain, BUT, I think I’m making an exception for this one. It has natural fruit enzymes that help keep skin smooth, soft, clear and radiant and I have to say after the first use, my face felt smoother and I’m seeing congestion improve in just a few days’ use.
I’m trying out a couple of samples this week before deciding if I’d buy full sizes are two foundations by Laura Mercier.
I have a sample of her (highly rated) Flawless Lumière Radiance-Perfecting Foundation in shade Buff. This foundation is medium coverage with a radiant finish (give me all the fake glow).
I also got a (second time testing) sample of her Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation in shade Dusk. This is medium/full coverage with a natural matte finish.
TBD on these. Let me know if you’ve tried either and love them!
