It’s been a minute since I last posted a favorites (June), but it’s because I hate forcing monthly favorites if there just aren’t any. However; this month, in particular, was filled with some Holy Grail worthy items that I’m happy to share with you. I hope you enjoy my September 2016 beauty favorites and let me know what some of yours have been in the comments!
I ordered this palette the day it launched on Sephora.com because I felt it was something completely different from the typical brown neutral eyeshadows I currently own plenty of (over 125 to be exact… I put all my makeup in a spreadsheet recently and it was embarrassing, to say the least). The Modern Renaissance palette is stunning, blendable, and neutral yet since most of the shades are matte, it’s easy to wear and creates dozens of looks. I’ll be sharing a few of my favorite combinations in a separate post soon.
PS. Can you believe I already hit pan on one of the shades!? That’s NEVER happened to me with any of my palettes this quickly. I highly recommend this palette – especially if you have brown, green or blue eyes. Wait. Who else is left?! Ok. EVERYONE needs this palette.
This eyebrow gel has been around for a while, but I always felt that the shades didn’t suit me. I thought the blonde shade was too light and the brunette shade was way too dark. But one day at Ulta, I decided to try it just one more time and it was instant love. It has the hold of my beloved Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel, but with the perfect ashy-taupe color to define my brows and those added little fibers to make a super-fast brow on those quick-makeup/no-makeup-makeup days. The brush is perfection …Just stiff enough, just tiny enough… I’m obsessed with Benefit Gimme Brow now and don’t ever want to be without it.
My MAC Blacktrack gel liner has made my list of favorites a few times before and it’s something that holds a special place in my heart because it was one of my first MAC purchases – and I used it on my wedding day. But something that always irked me was that it never was a true black. I wanted a gel liner that had the blackness of a liquid but it needed to stay put as well as my MAC one. I’ve tried tons from the drugstore (MAC, L’Oreal, etc.) and a few from Sephora (BB, Tarte), but all of those smudged on me. One of my makeup artist friends told me to try this one by Inglot. I’ve heard about it over the years in the beauty blogging world, but never seriously considered it for some reason. At $16, it’s a great price and let me tell you – this gel liner is the blackest liner I currently own. It’s even darker than any of my liquid liners. AND TOTALLY MATTE! I don’t know why I waited so long to try this.
You can get it at most Macy’s (or online).
THIS NAIL POLISH. I can’t. I love my Essie Wicked for the fall/winter. It’s my all-time favorite shade, but I wanted something different; maybe even a little more neutral? I’m not a huge fan of navy blue polish (not sure why… I love navy blue clothes), so when I saw this deep hunter/olive, I lost it. I have seriously painted my nails three times in a row using this (as in nails chipped, reapplied, repeat). I also have no intention of trying a new color any time soon. OPI Suzi The First Lady of Nails is part of the Washington DC collection, and I think it’s Limited Edition which means you need to get yourself this shade ASAP. I’m going to buy all the stock at my local Sally’s.
Another item that has had the hearts of many for several years is Milani Luminoso blush. I think I tried this shade ages ago – like we’re talking probably ten years. Back then, I was able to pull off and preferred bolder blush shades, but as my face shape has changed/refined ‘with age,’ those bold shades are a bit hard for me and I like softer colors. I had a sample of NARS Orgasm recently and it reminded me of Luminoso, so I picked up a new one and love it! Orgasm is definitely more pink, whereas Luminoso pulls more peach. But I actually prefer the more peach shade. Plus, I also prefer the price tag. This gives a gorgeous glow and nearly makes applying a separate highlighter unnecessary.
Thanks for stopping by to check out my September 2016 beauty favorites! What have you been loving lately?
