Last week, I got the largest PR package in the history of Brighter, Darling from Pixi Beauty and I nearly shat myself. TMI? Whatever. It was full of all of the blogger collabs (four, in total) Pixi just launched and the item I was most excited about was the Pixi Double Cleanse! So much so, that ironically, right before I got the package from the mail, I had just returned from my local Target purchasing it myself. I’ve been using it for a week now and NEEDED to share it with you all because this item isn’t going to sit on the shelves long…
The Pixi Double Cleanse ($24) is in collaboration with skin care guru, aesthetician, and YouTuber, Caroline Hirons. I LOVE Caroline. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have discovered the magic of chemical exfoliants (acid toners) and how they are a miracle worker on my acne-prone, congested skin.
As someone who already is a religious double cleanser, and recent devotee to the Estee Lauder Micro Cleansing Balm, I knew Double Cleanse was going to be a must try for me. If you’re unfamiliar with double cleansing, it’s when you use one product to remove your makeup (a cleansing oil, balm, micellar water, etc), and then go in with an actual face wash of some sort to clean the skin once the makeup is removed. It’s a Godsend for those who wear makeup daily, if you have a hard time removing eye makeup or hate the irritating pulling and tugging of a makeup wipe.
Caroline Hirons wanted to partner with Pixi to create a product like Double Cleanse that is unlike anything else on the market right now: a true two-in-one. The balm side removes makeup, SPF and any other grime you have on your skin from the day and then the cleansing cream preps your skin for the next steps in your regime.
Caroline says you can use the balm at night, following up with your cleanser of choice (you don’t have to use the cleansing cream) and then use the gentle cleansing cream in the morning. OR, do what I’ve been doing, which is using both at night.
The directions say to use a coin size (well… what size coin exactly… dime, quarter?) amount of the cleansing balm onto dry skin. It will break down into a soft oil and emulsifies everything off of your face yet will rinse totally clean – no residue! Use another coin size amount of cleansing cream and massage thoroughly, removing with a damp washcloth (I personally just rinse it with water and it’s just fine).
I love the Pixi Double Cleanse because it’s convenient, effective and at a fair price point for two products. I haven’t broken out by this, there’s NO fragrance and the product has skin-healthy ingredients in it like Vitamin E (conditions), Evening Primrose Oil (heals) and Arginine (elasticity). Pixi is also paraben free and not tested on animals.
My ONE drawback is that I’m worried the container won’t last very long. Don’t quote me on this yet as it’s only been a week, but I do wish they made the packaging larger because I foresee daily use only lasting perhaps a month. I still think it’s worth a major shot if you’re someone who struggles with removing all of your makeup, don’t like makeup wipes and/or wear makeup daily. So soothing and a relaxing ritual to do at night.
Pick up the Pixi Double Cleanse at your local Target or on PixiBeauty.com for $24.
