A couple of months ago, I shared my favorite traditional masks for any skin ailment, but with everyone intrigued or obsessed with the sheet mask trend (is it even a trend anymore or are these here to stay?), I wanted to share my current favorite sheet masks. I have a feeling there may be a part 2 and 3 of these to come, so I titled this edit Part I. My favorite sheet masks are ones that give a calmed, plumped, and overall glowing appearance (basically, baby skin). If that sounds like something you’re interested in, let’s get to this!
Sheet masks are one-time use cotton/gel or paper material mask that fit your clean face and are typically left on for 15-30 minutes. No rinsing required. I tried my first sheet mask somewhere around 2012 while I was wedding planning. Everyone raved about the convenience of walking around your house with a Jason-like sheet on your face and the added perk of not having to rinse it off when you’re done.
I picked up a few of the affordable Sephora brand sheet masks and was not impressed with any of them. I then upped my game and tried the Dr. Jart Water Replenishment mask and bam – I became a sheet mask believer. That was the first sheet mask I felt made any obvious change in my skin. After using it (and waking up the next day), my skin was noticeably hydrated, soft, calmed and bright.
Here’s a round-up of my favorites in no particular order:
one I love to travel with ($7.50)
one that’s great for a stressful week ($8/one; $36 for 6)
one that’s perfect before a special event ($8/one; $30 for 4)
one that is for the ultimate in luxury and indulging (think: wedding day, during pregnancy, etc.) ($110 for 6)
one for super hydration ($6.00)
one for calming the skin ($5.00)
one for giving the appearance of clearer skin ($6 for one; $22 for 4)
one for the brightest, healthiest looking skin (*CVS BUDGET BUY! $2.49*)
