There’s a crazy amount of new products on the market lately – mostly in part due to NY Fashion Week and the kick off of the fall/winter season. Brands come out with tons of new stuff around this time of the year and again in February, so naturally, my wish list has been growing. I wanted to share what I’ve been currently coveting (whether brand new or old) to give you some ideas for things that could help you out, but also to get feedback if you have tried any of these items…
This isn’t a new launch, but it’s *inspired* by a new launch (the Hourglass Ambient Lighting – Surreal Light Edit). I got caught up in the hype about that Surreal Light Edit palette simply because it’s a great deal for the price and seemed like something right up my alley – sunset/golden hour lighting on my face 24/7 sounded amazing. But, like with many makeup launches, the hype soon faded after bloggers got their hands on the item and many complained that the shades don’t have enough pigmentation for those with medium/medium-deep/deep skin tones. After looking at dozens of swatches, I realized Surreal Light wouldn’t be for me.
However, I happened to be in a Sephora and swatched the Luminous Bronze Light bronzer and it was really pretty. I thought it would be too shimmery, but it’s insanely smooth and since it contains my favorite “Luminous Light” powder swirled throughout, I realized this would be the perfect item to give me a summer/sunset glow through the fall/winter in itself.
They also make a mini size for $24!
I don’t have a lot of luck with drugstore foundations/powders for some reason. I’m pretty sure my skin just KNOWS when I put a makeup product on it that costs less than $30. My face is a diva. Despite this fact, I am very curious about this Maybelline powder because SO many are saying it’s perfection and you wouldn’t know it was $8.99 once on your face! Perhaps I can trick my skin?? TBD…
FYI… the Sephora VIB/BI Sale comes in November, so if you’ve been curious about foundations, skincare… anything that you can get a sample of… now is the time to start collecting those samples that way you’re ready to purchase the full size in November! That’s my plan in regards to the famous Sunday Riley facial oils.
These facial oils are INSANELY pricey but have a cult following for being magnificently effective at what they are intended to do. I already use Rx Retin-A and I’m notoriously NOT dry-skinned, so her newest addition to the family is UFO. Said to be a dry oil, medicated with a mild 1.5% salicylic acid to decongest pores and penetrate deeply, this would be the ideal oil for my skin from Sunday Riley. I also imagine being encapsulated in an oil would prevent any flaking associated with salicylic acid’s BHA/exfoliating properties…
I’m LOVING my Ouai Hair Oil, so now I want to try a few more things from the brand. As I finish up my H.G. amika un.Done texture spray, I figured I’d try Ouai’s. It’s advertised to build ‘incredible volume and texture.’ …And if it smells as nice as the oil, I’m sure I’ll like it. I’m alllll about the beachy/undone textured hair, so give me ALL the sprays.
While visiting family in NJ a few weeks ago, I was playing with every cream eyeshadow stick in Sephora and left the store as many of us do – with swatches of product all over our hand throughout the rest of the day. Since copper is one of the go-to shades to rock this season, I walked through the aisles finding all the copper shadow sticks. I already own one Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in a taupe shade and LOVE the lasting power, but this particular Copper shade was OOC. It WOULD.NOT.BUDGE. I washed my hands with dish soap and it wasn’t coming off. If that’s not a sign it belongs in my life, I don’t know what is.
I was at an event recently at Neiman Marcus and stumbled upon this pencil, again because plum is also a color of the season. This Doublewear pencil in Burgundy Suede is a crazy underrated item! The color isn’t too plum to make you look exhausted or like you just cried for 11 hours. It’s a perfect deep brown with deep plum shimmer that leans more on the warm side, rather than neutral. I paired this pencil with a light pink champagne shadow on the lid and a matte brown/currant shade in the outer V and it was magical. The longevity of this pencil is also amazing – just go swatch this on your hand and then walk around the rest of the day. That baby isn’t budging – even after washing.
What has caught your eye lately? Have you tried any of my wish list items – if so, let me know what you think in the comments!
