Another quick post coming at ya, but a popular topic! Mineral foundation… particularly bareMinerals. I literally get asked constantly from friends in real life about mineral/powder foundation… especially from my mom friends. I think the appeal lies in the fact that mineral foundations tend to be ‘cleaner’ ingredient-wise, and the idea that the finish is super natural and the application is no fuss (no waiting for creams/liquids to set, etc). Well, FYI, bareMinerals released a TON of new foundations shades and I’ve been practicing my swirl, tap, buff lately after taking a 15 year hiatus. Let’s get into my bareMinerals powder foundation routine…
So in case you lived under a rock back in the early 2000s, bareMinerals is a mineral powder foundation that includes only 5 ingredients.
The formula is said to be GOOD for your skin, entirely vegan, and is free of a lot of cosmetic toxins such as talc, parabens, phthalates, fragrance, preservatives, (and my personal antithesis) chemical sunscreen.
It has a naturally radiant finish (but they do have a matte version), truly buildable (from light to full) coverage, and comes in 30 shades.
It retails for $29 and is sold at Ulta, Sephora, several different department stores, bareminerals.com and at bareMinerals stores.
Shout out to the PR ladies at bareMinerals for sending me ALL of their foundation shades, mineral veils and these new amazing brushes! I will be having a party with my nearest and dearest to make sure everyone finds a match that wants one.
bareMinerals has been revamping a lot of their cosmetics and tools lately, and that was a big part of why I stopped using the line 15 years ago. Although I liked the foundation, I found that something was irritating my skin.
ENTER: the original, natural bristle brushes.
They just did NOT get along with me and really caused a lot of redness in my skin.
INTRODUCING: the new bareMinerals foundation brushes, particularly the supreme finisher brush (amazing for mineral veil… among tons of other things) and the beautiful finish foundation brush. GAME. CHANGERS.
Using these new, synthetic and ultra soft brushes makes applying mineral foundation so pleasant, so easy and so …relaxing? These brushes are heavenly and NO MORE REDNESS!
With the new shades available, I can go in between three options now depending on my level of self tan:

For ease of understanding, I included one of my recent YouTube videos so you can watch me apply my foundation here to achieve full coverage with bareMinerals:
You can subscribe to my channel for once a week beauty videos!
I hope that helps you see how the bareMinerals performs using these new brushes and also to achieve a full coverage look.
I feel like my skin looks naturally glowing using this foundation – which is so crazy considering it’s powder – and I look forward to using more bareMinerals once #BrighterDarlingBaby arrives. I can totally see the benefit of being a mom on the go loving the ease of this formula.
Have you tried bareMinerals before? What have been your thoughts? Let me know in the comments or share with someone who needs an easy, clean-foundation routine!
