Well this is it, everyone. Summer is (un)officially over after this weekend. Can you even believe it?! I cannot. I moved from Houston to New Jersey (#prayforHouston) as Memorial Day Weekend kicked off and here I am sharing my favorite beauty products right before Labor Day. These five August 2017 beauty favorites have made getting ready faster and were so complementary to the summer sunshine. I know I’ll continue to use all of them through the fall since they’re perfect high-impact products. Let’s discuss…
When I think about summer, I think about air-dried beachy hair, glowing skin, glossy lips and a sunkissed, flawless complexion. I may not be able to achieve all of those things (certainly not at the same time, let’s be real I’m not Gisele Bundchen), but I’m confident these products helped me get as close as possible to looking like a golden beach goddess 🙂
I first tried this product probably around 2009 when I thought it would be cute to DIY bleach my hair Gwen Stefani blonde in my apartment. It turned into the weirdest, gummy hot mess and my cousin who has a degree in hair wizardry recommended I use this to heal my horrific hair. It works like a charm! Using this weekly has kept my light-ash blonde highlighted hair soft, shiny and bouncy.
Plus, it smells heavenly and your entire bathroom will smell delightful when you’re done showering. I like to leave it on as long as possible – at minimum three minutes (preferred 5 minutes).
I’ve talked about this product (did a look using it) on the blog before. I think it’s better than the IT Cosmetics CC Cream everyone raves about because the shade range caters more to those with yellow undertones (whereas I think IT Cosmetics is more cool/neutral in undertone). Plus, Missha’s is like $11 on Amazon.
This CC Cream provides – what I consider – medium/full coverage with skin healing and brightening properties along with a solid SPF. Wash you face, slap this on and it just melts into the skin looking undetectably perfect.
Also talked about this gloss on the blog recently; another former must-have from my college days that I repurchased and will never be without. The perfect peach-pink with gold flecks gloss that has enough pigment to stand out on its own but pairs perfectly with most of my neutral lipsticks. To me, it looks like a sunset and makes the lips look fuller with that hint of shimmer.
Let’s take a minute to appreciate finally hitting pan on this bronzer I’ve had for YEARS (perhaps somewhere around 2011/2012). This is like sunshine in a compact. I reserve this bronzer for summertime because it is very warm toned and must never be used as a contour powder, but it’s just so pretty for warming up the complexion and giving a healthy, even-toned glow to all.
I immediately purchased this after watching my #beautyblogger buddy, Hey There Chelsie (applies around 00:53), use it in a tutorial before she applied her foundation to disguise some skin woes. This is not a foundation nor is it exactly a concealer – it only comes in the one shade which is approximately 5 shades lighter than my actual skin tone – but it’s a full-pigment, redness reducing/neutralizing cream. The tiniest (and I mean tiniest) amount goes a long way. It has some sort of sorcery in it that it cancels redness but also seems to smooth the texture of skin, as well. I use it to conceal old (or current) acne marks typically along my jaw line/chin and because of the unique matte texture, it does not move under makeup.
It’s a difficult product to explain, but just know it’s a secret weapon in faking perfect skin days and one I highly recommend. Go try it out at Ulta.
What have been some of your summer staples? Any you recommend for the fall, as well? Let me know and please share this post if you found it helpful or learned about a new product. I really appreciate it!
