3 Looks Using Marc Jacobs Social Butterfly Palette

Recently, I picked up the Marc Jacobs Social Butterfly Palette – a Neiman Marcus exclusive – because I was feeling extremely stupid spendy. The shades swatched so pigmented and creamy, plus I’m a total sucker for eyeshadow and eye makeup. This palette definitely seems to give more dramatic/smokey looks, but I was able to whip up an easy, all-matte look; a “daytime glam” purple smokey look; and an “all out glam” look complete with false lashes. Continue reading to see how it came out!

3 Makeup Looks Using Marc Jacobs Social Butterfly Palette

Marc Jacobs Social Butterfly Palette Makeup Looks*For reference, I’ll refer to the shades used from LEFT to RIGHT as: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.*

All Matte Eyes

  1. Prime lids. I used this one (my favorite).
  2. Apply shade 1 with the biggest fluffy brush you have all over lid – from lash line to brows.
  3. Apply shade 2 through the crease to create a transition/blended look.
  4. Apply shade 6 in the outer corner.
  5. Line top and bottom lash line with a brown pencil. I used this budget buy.
  6. Apply mascara.
Daytime Glam

  1. Prime lids. I used this one (my favorite).
  2. Apply shade 4 all over the lid, slightly above the crease.
  3. Apply shade 5 through the crease and outer corner for depth. Build up on outer corner to desired darkness.
  4. Smudge shade 4 on lower lash line inner half, blending with shade 5 on outer half so it fades from purple to smokey taupe.
  5. Thinly line upper lashes with a liquid liner. I used this budget buy.
  6. Line lower water line with brown liner (same as used from all matte look).
  7. Apply mascara.
All Out Glam

  1. Prime lids. I used this one (same as I have in the other two looks).
  2. Apply shade 5 all over lid up to crease.
  3. Apply shade 3 on mobile lid to give that gold shimmer/pop in the center.
  4. Blend shade 2 through the crease to create transition.
  5. Add shade 1 to the brow bone for highlight.
  6. Take shade 6 through the crease and outer corner for definition. If you go overboard, use shade 2 to continue to BLEND, BLEND, BLEND!
  7. Use a small tapered brush and pick up the littlest bit of shade 7 and apply to the outer corner for depth/darkness.
  8. Line upper lashes with liquid liner (same as used from purple look).
  9. Line lower lashes with black pencil liner. I used this one.
  10. Smudge shades 3 and 5 on lower lash line for a smokey bronze look.
  11. Apply a bit of mascara so falsies blend in better.
  12. *Optional: apply falsies of your choice. I love and used these from Sally’s Beauty.

Let me know what you think about these looks using the Marc Jacobs Social Butterfly palette! I feel like the palette is pretty versatile, although it does remind me a lot of the original Urban Decay Naked Palette (with a bit more darkness to it, less fall out and that fun lilac shade).
