It’s been awhile since I shared some fashion tips here, but when something REALLY good comes along, I have to memorialize it here on the blog for future reference… and bodysuits are one of these current trends that I think should stay awhile… for a few reasons. ESPECIALLY if you’re a mom – trust me on this! But even if you’re not… these three bodysuits are so soft, so stretchy, and so practical, you’ll wear these for years in so many different situations! Here are my 3 flattering bodysuits you need…
Bodysuits are such a wardrobe staple that has grown in popularity the last couple of years. Perfect for layering, easy to throw on and look polished, and bonus – most let you get away with not having to wear a bra!
But for many of us, we may be thinking, “NO WAY IN HELL I CAN WEAR A BODYSUIT!”
Whether you feel like you have no boobs, too wide of a midsection or feel you’re past the days of wearing a thong bottom… good news… these bodysuits avoid all those issues by being flattering on the chest area, just ‘shaping’ enough for the midsection, and some don’t even have a thong bottom!
**BONUS: I swear these are genius for moms, especially if you’re nursing, because they’re all stretchy and you can wear them braless and just whip it out if you need to feed your baby… plus, you just look so much more put together with a tucked in top than the standard baggy shapeless dress or tank top. Just try it!**
We’ll start with the first bodysuit I splurged on that set me off to realize bodysuits are where it’s at…
((For reference, I’m 5’3″ and at the time of publication, about 135 lbs and around a 34B/C bra top.))
This SKIMS suit is the most expensive bodysuit in the roundup, but for those who have never worn a bodysuit (or haven’t in 20+ years), you may want to start with this one because the material is something magical.
This bodysuit material is ultra thin but ultra durable and SO stretchy – in ALL directions!
Although it does have a thong bottom, because the material is so forgiving, you shouldn’t find it super bothersome.
What I was most impressed with was the shape it gave my waist. I’m not someone with the narrowest waist to hip ratio, and this gave me more of a waistline with incredible smoothing effects.
I wanted to buy five more colors after I got this one… but I controlled myself and went to Amazon for the next two 😉
I got this one in shade Sienna and originally tried a small, but ended up keeping the medium. Both fit the same in the waist and butt, but I felt like the small was too low cut on my chest.
Also wearing an older pair of shorts from Pistola (similar here) and an old pair of Steve Madden dupe sandals (real ones on sale here)
My next bodysuit purchase came by recommendation of blogger friend, Blonde and Ambitious Blog, Taylor. She and I are almost identical measurements and size and she raved about this Amazon scoop neck suit… and it does NOT have a thong bottom for those who need to know.
This one is great for those who need a year round basic because of the short sleeves. You can wear it now in the summer with jeans, denim or linen shorts… and then add a cardi or leather jacket in the fall/winter. It also comes in a ton of colors and in long sleeve.
This material is your standard cotton/stretchy blend. It’s not stiff or itchy… but it’s not as soft as the SKIMS.
It runs true to size… I got this white one in a medium.
Now that I had a nude and a white bodysuit… you know I needed a black one…
Also wearing these jeans from Topshop and these new booties from Steve Madden.
This Amazon square neck suit was another influenced by a blogger purchase, but I can’t remember who… anyway… this one is probably my second favorite after the SKIMS one because it has that same similar stretchy material (not cotton).
This one is not a thong bottom either, but it’s cheeky.
What really makes this one stellar is it has almost built in body shaping in the midsection…. however, don’t get it confused with that uncomfortable thick, hot shape wear feeling. This is just like a double lining of the already-thin material. It just gives you a little extra smoothing.
I also am loving the square neckline moment – which also allows you to wear a regular bra, if you wanted.
This black suit runs big… I got the medium initially and it was gapping on my chest and lots of extra material on the midsection. I ended up keeping it in a small.
Also wearing these 501 crop jeans from Levi’s (cropped on me are regular length, I’m 5’3″) and these black booties from Caslon. Below, added this old hat from Topshop (similar here) and this gingham flannel from H&M (similar here).
Let’s also take the bodysuit to the fall/winter! Easily layer with a flannel shirt or shirt jacket, and some booties!
You may want to rock your bodysuit braless! Especially in the summer… and for suits like the SKIMS or the REORIA one (sleeveless suits, particularly), pick up some pasties to wear. These are super comfortable and smooth and inexpensive if you just want to try it out a couple of times. They also are reusable if you end up loving it!
Have you jumped on the bodysuit trend? I hope these 3 flattering bodysuits you need can help take you through the fall and winter feeling trendy and comfortable. Any you are loving? Link them below!
